Hollow Knight

But now it's time to take a break from "Dead Cells."

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

2025-01-08

After 2 years of The Legend of Zelda ("Breath of the Wild" and now "Tears of the Kingdom") in Spanish, I have my Switch in English, and I have to say that while it's a very good approach to train my Spanish, it was a bit of a chore. Now, the immersion deepened greatly. I also have an impression that both translations create their own worlds and are not direct translations from Japanese. Interesting. It also feels that Spanish translation is a bit better.

Mindcell

2025-02-02

I had "Mindcell" on my Nintendo Switch's wishlist for a while now, wondering if a game that cheap can be any good. In the meantime, I found out it's a port of a mobile game, which fits the handheld nature of Switch. Long story short, the game got discounted and to the price where I could buy it completely from the points I had. Now, for free, I might give it a shot.

Sky: Children of the Light

2025-03-23

They updated "Sky," and it's no longer working smoothly on Switch. Shame. But I see they finally created the second starting island (when you play every couple of years, you're up for surprises). More vibrant this time. I liked the challenge with playing music.

Shadow Man Remastered

2025-05-05

Ah yes, "Shadow Man Remastered." I have been wanting to play the game since it was released, but it didn't happen at the time. Then, quite recently, I learned about Nightdive's remaster, and I had it on my list ever since. Over a quarter of the century after its release, I finally get to bit my teeth in it.

Blackthorne

"Blackthorne": the thread.

Cutthroat Island

2025-10-01

Not seeing it viable to watch "Cutthroat Island" in any foreseeable future, I turned towards the game. I haven't played an isometric game in so long that I don't even wanna count. Once a popular format, I suppose it was cannibalised by actually 3D games. Funnily enough, the colours and the fights remind me mostly of "Blasphemous," which has a rather different gameplay. I got to level 3 (or 2?) and I like entering streets and houses; TMNT didn't have it, only scrolling right.

Aladdin

2025-10-13

"Aladdin" is 1993 platformer based on a Disney's animated movie released year earlier. The game's premiere coincided with VHS release. It was made for Sega Mega Drive but was later released for other platforms, e.g., PC. It is also a game that I played heavily in 1995 but never finished. Then I moved on to other titles. But now it's time for reckoning. Armed with a R36S clone, I took another swing at the game.

"PowerSlave Exhumed" the thread.

Rise of the Triad: The Ludicrous Edition

2025-11-16

"Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition" for €5.99 in the Nintendo store, so I thought why not. I am mostly interested in the new episode which uses an updated features from the engine, which I find amazing in a case of a game from 1994. Notes to follow soon maybe because I already started 2 other games and I don't wanna spread myself thin.

The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna

2025-11-19

My next Egyptian-themed game is "The Talos Principle's" only DLC, "The Road to Gehenna." While it's only one of the themes, it has been realised fantastically, both visually and muscially, and it's represented in around one fourth of the game, so it's a strong candidate. I played the base game exactly 4 years ago, in November 2021. I promised myself to play it earlier, but time has flew by. But now I'm back.

The Serpent Rogue

2025-11-29

I played "The Serpent Rogue" and it's cool game, at least to begin with. We'll see later. We play as Warden, who sports a plague doctor outfit and I always had a soft spot for it, so I was eyeing that game for a while. One of criticisms was that there's no sense of direction, but it's not a bad thing for me; I prefer that over hand-holding for a couple of first hours. So, I'm roaming a bit lost but that's part of the appeal here.
